Is it down, or is it just me?
Check whether a website is reachable right now, and how quickly it answers.
What "down" can mean
Three different things look the same from your chair: the site really is down, the site is up but your network cannot reach it, or the site is up and your browser is the problem. This check separates the first from the other two by asking from a different angle: does the name exist, and does the site answer?
If the site is up but not for you
- Try a private or incognito window. Cached pages and extensions cause more "outages" than real outages do.
- Try your phone on mobile data. If it loads there, your home network or provider is blocking or misrouting it.
- Try a different DNS. A stale or broken lookup makes a healthy site unreachable; our DNS lookup shows what the name resolves to.
- Wait five minutes. Some outages are a single overloaded server that recovers on its own.
If everything is down
Run the speed test. If it fails too, the problem is your connection, not the site. The Wifify app’s Network Doctor will tell you whether it is your Wi-Fi, your router or your provider.

What does this check actually do?
Two things. First it asks DNS whether the name exists. Then it opens a connection to the site and times the answer. If both work, the site is up; if the name does not exist or nothing answers, it is down or blocked.
It says reachable, but the site will not load for me. Why?
Then the site is up and the problem is closer to you: your browser cache, a blocked page on your network, an extension, or your provider’s DNS. Try a private window, another device, or your phone on mobile data to narrow it down.
Can it read the page or tell me the error?
No. For privacy, browsers only let this page confirm that a site answered and how long it took; the content and status code stay hidden. It is a reachability check, not a full monitor.
How do I know if it is my whole internet that is down?
